My Grandmother’s Pouding Chômeur

Ingredients

Syrup

  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Batter

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup lait
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Whisk together all the syrup ingredients and bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes. Pour into an 8x11 cake pan.
  • Whisk all the batter ingredients until light and fluffy, pour over the syrup. Bake for 30 minutes in an oven preheated to 375ºF.
